Outside the Tomb (Day 4)
"just as he said," – Matthew 28:6
As we navigate through life's ups and downs, it's easy to become overwhelmed and anxious about the future. However, we have a God who has made numerous promises to us in His word. These promises serve as a source of comfort, hope, and strength for those who put their trust in Him. While there are over 7,000 promises that God has made to mankind, we will focus on a few that we can focus in on.
Firstly, God promises us His presence. In Hebrews 13:5, God says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." This promise assures us that no matter how alone or isolated we may feel, we can always find comfort in God's presence. We can turn to Him in prayer and know that He is listening and cares for us. We can also seek His guidance in making decisions and trust that He will lead us in the right direction.
Secondly, God promises us His provision. In Matthew 6:31-33, Jesus says, "So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." This promise reminds us that God knows our needs and will provide for us as we seek Him first. We don't need to worry about our basic needs because God has promised to take care of us.
Thirdly, God promises us His peace. In John 14:27, Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." This promise reminds us that we don't have to let fear and anxiety control our lives. We can trust in God's peace and rest in His love.
Lastly, God promises us eternal life. In John 3:16, we read, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." This promise assures us that we have a future beyond this life. As we place our faith in Jesus Christ, we can look forward to spending eternity with Him.
The promises of God are a testament to His love and faithfulness towards us. As we meditate on these promises, we can find hope and peace in the midst of life's challenges. Let us hold on to these promises and trust in God's goodness, knowing that He always keeps His word.
Dear Jesus, You keep Your promises. Show me how to live as though I believe that with every part of me. Help me trust You more, obey You more and resemble You more.
